Astrid Akkerman reports that on April 5, 2011, she spotted a common loon in breeding plumage on the Niagara River near the small community of Chippawa which is inside the city of Niagara Falls, Ontario. Astrid noted that the loon was not shy and allowed her to approach close enough to see it clearly without binoculars. She described the bird as "SPECTACULAR". akkerman@vaxxine.com
