Tulips EMERGED

Date: 03/10/2011

Number: 1

One of the other 4th grade students came in our room and whispered in my ear that we have a surprise in the tulip bed. Minutes later, we gathered our supplies, and we excitedly, headed to the tulip garden. The temperature was 36 F, and it was very chilly and damp. The tulip bed was muddy. We had 4 experimental tulips and 1 control tulip that had emerged 2-4 inches above the mulched soil. We recorded our data, weeded the garden a bit, and headed back inside to record the rest of our observations. Spring in Kansas had arrived!
