Hummingbird, Ruby-throated (FIRST)

Date: 04/08/2011

Number: 1

Yesterday (April 7) after checking the migration map, noticed there was a sighting in Lincolnton (a neighboring city in Lincolnton County).
Got the well-used feeder out and noticed the perches had dry-rotted over the winter. As Hubby was in town, called him on the cell phone and explained the situation. Yea!!! He brought home a new feeder!!!
This morning (4-8-11), had the feeder all juiced up and placed it on it's customary hook on the side porch...As we can see the hummers from the kitchen and dining room. The weather has finally turned warm enough to, at least, be hopeful our annual anticipated guests would return, shortly.
Peering out the window, throughout the day, not one hummer was sighted. Hubby came home and we spent the early evening enjoying the pleasantly warm day. While we were on the patio, off the side porch, we heard IT...Buzzzzooooooom...That BEAUTIFUL familiar sound!!! Time: 7:44 p.m. We sat at the patio table for a time and watched as our first little boy ate his fill before going to bed. YEA!!! THEY'RE B-A-A-A-A-A-A-A-A-A-C-K!!!!!
