I observed 8 Monarchs during a 45 minute period this afternoon between 5:20 and 6:05p.m. The butterflies varied in fading. There was one that was noticably large and was quite faded. All were flying from southwest to northeast with the prevailing wind. Some were flying close to the ground and other were slightly higher. Temps were in the low 80's with mostly sunny skies and light SW winds. It has been a number of years since I have seen Monarchs coming through in this manner in the spring.
