Clinton (Mississippi)Community Nature Center opened its 2nd Monarch Festival with a Monarch Rescue from 9am-1pm on Saturday, April 9 at the Choctaw Trails site near Clinton. Approximately 200 people came out to collect eggs on the Asclepias viridis plants growing around the cross country track; predators and mowers usually get most of the eggs/larvae. Many of the eggs are used by teachers in the area as an educational activity in their classrooms. Other activities include a Monarch Walk-a-Thon, a Fluttering Wings Photo Exhibit and Monarch Haiku contest.
