Hummingbird, Ruby-throated (FIRST)

Date: 04/10/2011

Number: 1

Lone male at my bird feeder, then my window; wondering where his feeder is that was there last summer. Hurry! Hurry! Get the feeders out of winter storage, fill them and put them out! It is a warm sunny day and very warm for Suches and this time of year. 82 degrees! Several hummers were seen that day. Early spring?

April 12
To continue the first sighting... Last night it rained and thenext morning, a cold front blew in - temp down to 41. Cold, feather-fluffed, butter-ball-ish hummer clasps to the feeder, sipping as the wind tosses the feeder about, as if he knows he must cling to the nourishment to survive. The following morning at 43 degrees, he returned to the feeder "deflated" and confident he would survive!
