We observed two monarchs in our backyard today. They did not have to use much energy - there were very strong winds helping them along. Both of the monarchs were just fluttering all around the yard. One of my cats took a whack at one of them when the monarch drifted right in front of her face. Luckily, she missed & the monarch continued on its way! None of my milkweed has emerged yet. Hopefully it will show itself soon! Both of the monarchs left the backyard headed northeast.
