Tulips BLOOMED

Date: 04/14/2011

Number: 1

Today we observed our Red Emperor Tulips at Commack Road Elementary School. We smelled the fragrant aroma. Some of the tulips smelled of mulch, while others had no smell at all! The tulips were red, yellow, black and purple. The buds were a reddish, greenish color. They had 6 petals, one of them had 7 petals and 7 anthers. We measured our tulips too! They were 5-12 inches in height. They felt like velvet. They also felt silky and smooth. The leaves were very big. They were planted in a sunny spot therefore, creating a lot of bloomed tulips. The other tulips which were planted about 15 feet away did not grow as well as ours. They were in a shadier spot. We had fun observing our Red Emperor Tulips. We hope you enjoy reading about our observations.
