All Other Signs of Spring

Date: 04/15/2011

This morning, the sixth grade took a walk to inspect our tulips. It felt really cold because it was windy out. When we walked to the tulips, at first the cold hit you like a brick, but you kind of got used to it. It was sunny out. It was cold but not as cold as it was two weeks ago. There was still some snow on the ground. The tulips looked somewhat dead out, some were alive. The tulips are as tall as my ankle and the rim of the petal looks reddish around it. Some of the tulips were taller than others. Some of the tulips were green and some of them were a red-maroon color. On our walk, I saw a moth that we stepped on. I picked it up and put it in the grass. We noticed little snow spots were still there and slowly melting. The snow that is in the shady spots is still out because of the trees which are covering the snow. The ground is still frozen in places. When you jump on the ground, you sink in and it feels like you are going to fall through. The birds were chirping and singing. Worms are starting to emerge. So in three simple months, the birds are chirping, tulips are growing, and it is finally spring.
