I'm not 100% sure it was a monarch - it wouldn't let me get close enough. I was at Glenwood Gardens for lunch when it flew by. I got up and followed it for a minute until it went out of sight. The colors were not very vivid, but it did not appear tattered. My milkweed at home is only about 2" tall and not very many leaves have separated from the buds yet. If it was a monarch, I'm worried for it!

I'm about 98% sure it was a monarch, but I have no idea how she got here already. My milkweed has no eggs yet - in fact, I just found butterfly weed emerging today! The common and swamp are each 2-3" tall.
