Hummingbird, Ruby-throated (FIRST)

Date: 04/15/2011

Number: 1

With all the strong south and southwest winds we have been having this spring the RT humming birds have shooting right past us here on the middle of the Texas ... wasn't any reason to stop if they could fly another fifty to hundred miles with such a tailwind ... plus with the drought there isn't much for them to nectar on, most everything has bloomed out except in backyards that are watered. This morning we had a northwest wind and sure enough we have had three different RT's in the backyard this afternoon ... they were going to the native scarlet salvia we have in the backyard and also using the three feeders we had freshened.
