We noted our first female monarch on Monday, 04,April,2011, visiting my 3 potted tropical milkweed. This is almost 4 weeks earlier than last year. (2010 – first sighting was 01May).

We now (4/14)have at least 20 caterpillars between the 3 plants, which only have enough foliage to support 3-5 5th instar cats.

In the garden, the tropical milkweed has started to emerge, but they are weeks away from being appealing.

Looking forward to another beautiful season of butterfly enjoyment.
