Monarch Egg (FIRST sighted)

Date: 04/13/2011

Number: 1

We had our first ovipositing Monarch on 4 kinds of Milkweed in our garden Wednesday the 13th) around 1:30. We are back in the caterpillar business in our den.

The Monarch must have oviposited nearly 100 eggs in around an hour. She stopped laying, landed on a buttonbush blossom for about 10 seconds then returned to work on the Milkweeds. We left a few in the garden and have not seen any predator activity so far.
