Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 04/04/2011

Number: 1

Observed a beautiful adult Monarch in flight. We had milkweed planted and hoped for eggs. We didn't see the eggs, but were delighted by the 14 Monarch catepillars that appeared on 4/11/11. One caterpillar was much much larger than the others and when we put the caterpillars into our butterfly pavillion - much to our surprise that large caterpillar spun his cocoon overnight. It is a beautiful chrysalis with a light of gold on it. We are excited to see our beautiful butterflies come alive!
