Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 04/19/2011

Number: 1

A female Monarch just eclosed from its chrysalis. This is the next generation that will continue the journey north. There had been two chrysalis located on the back of a brown wooden bench in the USDA/ARS People's Garden and, being bright green, they stuck out like sore thumbs. One had already been damaged and eaten so I carefully transferred the second to a terrarium in my office. I shall release it later today as the temperature will be about 85 degrees F.
