We've had at least six monarchs that we recently tagged spending the winter at the Rio Salado Habitat Restoration Area in downtown Phoenix. In early January we had a hard freeze and they survived in the protective tree canopy. They nectar on Seep Willow and also Sweet Bush (Bebbia juncea) when in bloom on warm days.
