Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 04/20/2011

Number: 1

While giving visiting school groups their orientation to the Virginia Living Museum, education staff Amy Payne and Jim Drummond saw a monarch butterfly fly low in front of the main building heading north. It flew fast and at knee level, and Amy reports IT WAS NOT TATTERED OR FADED, IT LOOKED CRISP AND FRESH! This is the first monarch spotted on museum grounds this season.
