Hummingbird, Ruby-throated (FIRST)

Date: 04/24/2011

Number: 1

7pm after a somewhat violent thunderstorm. A male Ruby-throated hummer flew in & checked out my Oriole feeder & began drinking in earnest. When he finished & flew away, I quickly took the feeder to put fresh nectar in it. According to my family, he checked out the hummer feeder I have while I was in cleaning & refilling the feeder, but did not feed from the hummer feeder & flew away.He came back about 20-30min later (I was fretting that i drove him away) & stayed in the immediate area, alternating between long drinks & preening himself. It was still raining & he definitely enjoyed his bath! This morning ( 10am) I did see him drink from my other hummer feeder-I only have 2 up @ this point. He is a beauty!!!
