Hummingbird, Ruby-throated (FIRST)

Date: 04/24/2011

Number: 1

At 7pm on Easter Sunday, March 24th I spotted our first hummingbird. He flew in and sat looking for the usual feeder, which wasn't up yet. He remained for maybe 5 minutes looking around then flew to the front yard where a second feeder was set last year. When he didn't find it, he flew off. I immediately placed the feeders out and saw the nectar disappear but didn't see him again until Tuesday, the 26th.
The weather had been a southerly warm breeze (almost 80 degrees) all day -- on the day he arrived. He looked fat.
