Monarch Egg (FIRST sighted)

Date: 04/24/2011

Number: 1

On 4/24/11 I watched a Monarch sail in and go almost directly to the garden area and quickly land on the A incarnata which is only about 6" high.  It landed on 3 different plants over 5 minutes, spending less than 45 sec on any one leaf.  I was only sure of one leaf and when I checked it there was a single yellow egg.  I did not look hard for others.  She then left.  Here is a photo of her laying on the leaf I checked.

I put in a "butterfly garden" 2 weeks ago(~4/14/11). It has 80 perennial plants, all native.  It has 6 Asclepias tuberosa and 6 A. incarnata.
