Just weeded around the common milkweed which is finally sprouting up....it's about 3 inches tall and the leaves are opening up. I was out in the yard planting and a very faded female came right near me....got a photo, but the wind carried her away from the yard.....hard storms and rain last night, so I hope she will come back and find the milkweed. Swamp milkweed is about 4 inches, but not as sturdy as the common. This is the earliest date by one day when I had one 4/28/09 and we documented the growth of the milkweed on JN.
