All Other Signs of Spring

Cutting grass this afternoon I saw my first Swallow Tail (yellow and black). It was enjoying the newly forming Lilac flowers. It was about 4 inches across. A little later I saw a smaller one that was about 2 inches across and then came along the bigger one and they fluttered around together even bumping each other. Also noticed the first Honeysuckle flowers on a lower branch. My kid, after returning home from school today, came in from outside and let me know she saw a Swallow Tail with some excitement. Hummer feeder has been up since the 23rd with no action. American Gold Finches have been around for a week or so. No nest building yet with the Robins But I often notice them on the ground under the hanging suet feeder pecking in the grass Especially when other bird types are feeding on the suet. Little Fuzzy Bees are bothersome as they are investigating every item on porch and around house that has a speck or spot that looks like a hole. I think they are mud bees as they plugged holes with mud in previous years. Seeing baby (1-2 inch) brown Toads every few days around yard, glad they are here but sometimes I think a brown leaf is a frog while cutting grass. Ants, Several types, are making their presence known over the past couple of days by their fine dirt mounds in yard. Lastly, I saw a few Brewers Blackbirds Chasing an American Crow, nipping at the Crow in flight and making noise!
