Bald Eagle

Date: 04/28/2011

Number: 1

I am an amateur photographer and was taking some shots of a pair of eagles. The one had caught a carp but had dropped it. Apparently it was too large. After returning home, I was looking through the shots and noticed that one of the birds had bands on both legs. A blue band on the left leg and a silver on the right. As I continued looking at the photos I noticed something shiny on the back of the bird. After looking through a number of photos I have come to the conclusion that it was a radio tracking device. It appears that the bird is healthy and has a mate. It also appears to be marked with some sort of paint as if numbered. Seeing bald eagles is amazing to me to begin with, but to get photos of one that was banded and had a tracking device is remarkable.
