Saw two Baltimore Orioles (both males)at some grape and strawberry jelly I had placed on my upper deck. So I rushed out with an orange half and a couple of nectar feeders. They ate the orange, but so far they have had no interest in the nectar. Sporadically they come for the jelly.
Also a neighbor at the north (Lake Poygan) property sighted a pair of Baltimore Orioles on the premises. Last year, I had THREE nesting pair at this site, and they fledged at least babies there.
They consumed around 7 quarts of jelly each week--that summer, along with about five nectar feeders-full each week. Had no Orioles nesting on my city of Madison property, though, only those that were "passing through."
