Oriole (1st Baltimore)

Date: 04/30/2011

Number: 1

At about 9:30 a.m.(cst) saturday morning my fiance Jean hollered to me (I was in the north side of the house)from the south side of the house and said she had spotted an oriole. I ran to look out our patio door glass and sure enough sitting on one of our shepherds hooks was a beautiful brightly colored orange with jet black male baltimore oriole!---our first oriole sighting of the 2011 season! We were very happy and very excited! This male oriole looked around from the top of the shepherds hook for several seconds then flew into our two-cup orange oriole feeder loaded with grape jelly and grape nectar. He seemed to be enjoying it a lot as he stayed a good minute or so. Disappointed now though because we have not seen him or others since.
