Past 3 weeks I've been observing a larger then normal lighter in color along with pale feet and a half black ring on back side on top neck resembling some what a Morning Dove without the neck ring. Studying bird books with all the descriptions this bird has I was thrilled to find out this bird is a Eurasian Collard Dove. This bird is a very rare to uncommon Dove this far north especially in Northern part of Illinois. There's been a few sitings in the Chicago land area about 3 from what I studied. This Eurasian Collard Dove is more well known in the far southern states very uncommon in the Northern states but a few are making their way to the north. Check out your Doves you too might have a Eurasian Collard Dove at your feeders. This Dove has been eating out of my ground sunflower feeders and ground corn feeders. I've seen this bird in my yard for a least the past 3 weeks.
