I spoke too soon when I wrote this AM to say no monarchs had been seen here in the Winchester VA, top of the Shenandoah Valley! I saw a female today flittering around our garden about noon and leaving us some eggs on the taller A. syriaca and smaller A. incarnata. She was quite faded, maybe she had been battered by the storms we have been having and blown in from the more central U.S. I tried getting her picture but she didnt stay still very much at all!
