Robin (First HEARD singing)

Date: 05/08/2011

Number: 1

Seven o'clock this morning: the single high note of a Varied Thrush, the honk of a Ring-necked pheasant, the sing-song chirp of a Pine Grosbeak, the chipping of a Dark-eyed Junco, the....Wait a minute. IS that a Grosbeak? No. It's a Robin! Hesitant, halting, uncertain, but definitely Robinsong! He's back, but probably waiting for a bright sunny day to really break into song. The clouds and drizzle are dampening his enthusiasm, but --- it's spring! May 8th, first Robin in Voznesenka, Alaska. It's been a long time.

See when this Northern Observation Post predicted first robin song!
