Monarch Egg (FIRST sighted)

Date: 05/14/2011

Number: 1

A dull and battered monarch flew into my flower garden and was observed feeding on a few flowers. Then it flew to another area where I have milkweed plants. My neighbor also commented on seeing a monarch. The following day (May 14, 2011) I found an egg on the underside of a milkweed leaf. I brought it inside to raise and it hatched on May 16th. I have never seen monarchs arrive this early. Usually my first sightings are toward the end of July. I am so excited to see one again!!
