I was watching the birds in my backyard and a Robin was on a tray feeder eating finch food!! It is bird seed! Also, when a dove tried to chase him away, he moved to the right and started taking safflower seeds in his beak and swallowed them! I wanted to know if he was starving and tried to eat bird seed. I have never ever seen this before. From what I've read, they don't have the digestive makeup to eat seeds. Can you explain why he was eating bird seed? it is May, Spring time and there seems to be plenty of bugs around to eat. Very strange indeed!
