According to the field guides Loons aren't supposed to be in Northern Utah. About 12 years ago, I spotted a pair on the reservoir at Hyrum State Park, in Hyrum, Utah. Loons have arrived every year since then. This year, 8 were observed. They hung around until boaters became too numerous.
