Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 05/28/2011

Number: 1

I just saw a fast-flying healthy monarch about 30 yards away at 2:30pm EST in Davisburg, MI. We are 1/2 way between Flint & Pontiac or N-NW of Detroit/Windsor (Ontario) 1 hours drive.

It was fast flying E-NE but there is a thick forest directly north of the clearing and it may just have been taking an easier path. It appears to be searching in the long 2’ tall grasses, either for nectar sources or milkweed. I couldn’t reach it without leaping over 2 barb-wired fences.
