I just saw a fast-flying healthy monarch about 30 yards away at 2:30pm EST in Davisburg, MI. We are 1/2 way between Flint & Pontiac or N-NW of Detroit/Windsor (Ontario) 1 hours drive.
It was fast flying E-NE but there is a thick forest directly north of the clearing and it may just have been taking an easier path. It appears to be searching in the long 2 tall grasses, either for nectar sources or milkweed. I couldnt reach it without leaping over 2 barb-wired fences.
