Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 05/29/2011

Number: 1

May 29 I saw the first monarch in the new grasses of the old apple orchard here. May 30 I saw several monarchs flitting around the field. (The milkweed are about 6 inches tall; with leaves still vertical.) May 31 7:30 am, 70 degree morning, I see a monarch pressed onto the sun-facing, wind protected side of a purple lilac. The monarchs seemed to have arrived for the lilacs, which began blooming/smelling about 5 or 6 days ago.
