I was cutting the grass (before noon) which was quite high and the monarch was fluttering around the clover blossoms in the yard. It flew by several times and then disappeared only to return in a few minutes. It was an averaged sized monarch, but seemed a deeper orange than I remembered the last one I saw. Clearly a monarch though!
