Bald Eagle

Date: 05/30/2011

Number: 1

I saw a large bird of prey with a dark body and a white head. The front part of it's wings (where the muscles are) was dark, but the back part (where it's just feathers) was lighter and varied based on viewing angle. I do not remember the color of its tail.

The bird was sitting on a lamp post, then circled the parking lot a couple of times before flying behind the building and out of view.

This happened at approximately 4pm, in the parking lot of Jewel/Osco at the corner of Boughton & Weber, Bolingbrook IL 60440. This location is about a half mile from the Dupage River, and within fifteen miles of a bird sanctuary.
