We have a hummer nest under our deck. I had seen the mother sit on the nest, but thought it had been abandoned recently since I hadn't seen her around. This afternoon I saw the mother hummer feed two hatchlings. From my kitchen window I can now see there are 2 beaks sticking out of the nest. She is very cautious and will sit in a pine tree next door and look around for at least a minute. Sometimes she doesn't come over to the nest, and will fly away, especially if the crows are around. I saw both hatchlings stick their tongues out after she fed them. I'm not exactly sure how long ago they hatched so I don't know how much longer they will stay in the nest; I have read 21 days.
