Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 05/31/2011

Number: 1

I observed my first Monarch butterfly of the season today! I watched it flying and getting blown around. I followed it to get a closer look because it was so windy. She eventually came down to Asclepias syriaca plant and laid an egg.

(It was 2 p.m., temperature 72F, with partly cloudy skies. A "Wind Advisory" was in effect today so wind gusts were up to 40 mph out of the WSW)
