Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Observed 11 adult monarchs on the south shore of Manitoulin Island, Ontario on June 6, 2011 within a 2 hour period. They likely had just crossed Lake Huron. Seven adults were feeding on flowers found on the sand dunes within 20 metres of the shore. Condition of adults varied from excellent to ragged and faded. Observed 4 additional adults within 10 km of the south shore of Manitoulin Island on this same day. Two were feeding on lilac flowers.
