Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 06/07/2011

Number: 1

This is a very good report to make!
Yesterday I went to the back hill to check our blackberry patch of milkweeds and saw dozens and dozens of mostly 2nd instar caterpillars.....!
There were even some stage 3s.........and other nearby plants had eggs and newly emerged caterpillars.
Temperatures reached over 100 degrees here yesterday, but the caterpillars kept eating. The butterflies were hanging in the shady spots.......didn't see any Monarchs but did see a Swallowtail.
Will report again in a few weeks. Hope that report is as good.
