Monarch Larva (FIRST sighted)

Date: 06/07/2011

Number: 1

We saw approximately 8 1-2 day old caterpillars munching on leaves in a cluster of 5 milkweed plants along the edge of the Thames River in Gibbons Park, London. It's the largest group of young caterpillars we've seen yet, and the majority of the sightings were made by my 3-year old son. He's got an eye for these little critters. Still haven't seen an adult monarch yet, though.
