All Other Signs of Spring

Today we found three large groups of baby Monarch caterpillars on our milkweed plants in the back yard. The leaves on the plant had been eaten leaving only the "skeleton" of the leaves. We looked under a number of the leaves and found small caterpillars (the smallest we've ever found) in a cluster under 3 leaves. The smallest were 1/8 of an inch long. The larger ones were 3/16s of an inch.

A few days after, we learned that the caterpillars we found were not Monarchs but Milkweed Tussock Moth caterpillars.
