We were quite delighted to see our first monarch .... but somewhat dismayed that our milkweed buds had not yet opened. She was most definitely checking the milkweed for food and hung around the front and back yards for some time. We have had a very wet spring and it seems that everything is a little behind. Some of the buds have since opened and we did see our second visitor today (6/21/11). He left with a bellyfull!
