Anna L asked me to forward a monarch butterfly sighting from here in the Saskatoon region. This was seen June 19th around 4 pm. Having grown up in Ontario I feel pretty comfortable saying it was a monarch butterfly as opposed to a viceroy. Very large size and quite orange and it did not land for me to see the wings and possible black lines. I have also seen viceroys in the greater Saskatoon area . The location was at a railway crossing and the butterfly proceeded to fly along the rail bed and shoulder.
