Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 06/21/2011

Number: 1

Happy to report that I and several friends are finding cats (1-4 instars)
and eggs. I sighted a monarch this afternoon in Clarkston, MI which is about
30 miles north of Detroit. Since I was wearing sandals, I hesitated on
chasing it to see if it's sex. Today on a whim, I stopped at a small patch
of a dozen a. syriaca near a drain & found two 2nd instars. Speaking to the
property owner, I gave her the MonarchWatch website of course and my
personal email address.
Common milkweed is beginning to pink and bloom, especially in sunny fields.
