Today is July 16, and I just found only the second monarch larva. Here in Northeast Michigan, the adult monarchs are way down in numbers seen. We have had a very cold and wet May with a few adults observed early. June was cool with no adults observed. July is very hot so far and I have seen about a dozen adults so far. It is alarming to see all of the milkweed in bloom with no monarch eggs or larva on them. Hopefully, we will have a surge of adults in late July.
