Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 07/22/2011

Number: 1

One monarch butterfly flew around in our backyard for about 30 minutes. It alighted on one of our butterfly bushes' blossoms several times. It would fly about the yard, high or low, sometimes even very close to me. Then it would return to the butterfly bush, or to the red Monarda flowers. The butterfly bush blossoms were the bigger attraction, however.

It was not faded or torn at all, and appeared to me to be a recently developed monarch.
