Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 07/24/2011

Number: 1

My very first Monarch Butterfly hatched in my butterfly garden today at about 3:30 pm. It is a female. We have had 90+ degree days this pass week and she took 9 days to emerge. The girls next door watch me put the monarch on a yarrow flowers after letting them feel the monarch's feet on their fingers. We then took a monarch caterpillar into my house to place in a butterfly condo. The children really enjoy learning about them. My garden is number 4357 in the Monarch Waystation program run by Monarch Watch.
