Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 08/11/2011

Number: 1

Last weekend, spotted 3 Monarchs in the yard (and also noted a hummingbird quickly passing through). This week, there has been a Monarch each Monday and Tuesday morning about 8:00 am-ish, as I pulled out of the driveway. Also found a total of five Monarch catepillars on the Tropical Milkweed plants, yea. I work near a KState research garden and haven't noticed any evidence of Monarch catepillars on their milkweed plants, however. Like the report from 8/8 Wichita, I don't think it is my imagine, I haven't see many butterflies this summer. I've noticed much of the native milkweed in the area is half yellow if not dried up. The weather has finally been cooler here this past week, quite Fall-like.
