Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 08/14/2011

Number: 1

One large monarch flew north from nectaring in a patch of alfalfa towards Rudd Creek at Sipe White Mountain Wildlife Area around 2 p.m. The forest all around Sipe was consumed by the Wallow Fire in June, but this area survived. Great to see the monarchs back! We also found stands of Asclepias subverticillata and Asclepias speciosa near the area.
