Monarch Adult Sighted

I was hoping to make a roost report, but things didn't work out. I definitely found a field with migrating Monarchs, though. Today's north wind had them flying. At 6:45pm the temperature was about 70 degrees and some thin rain clouds were moving in from the west. This sent the Monarchs from the alfalfa field flying across the road to the south to take cover in the deciduous trees there.
This was not what I was hoping for. I was hoping for them to roost along the western edge of the alfalfa field, or perhaps in a low area in the northeast corner. Chances of a cluster forming seemed better in those spots.
I left to check out another field of alfalfa, but it had been cut.
I finished the night at the first field, spotting 2 or 3 isolated Monarchs who flew for 15 minutes trying to find a cluster to join. But they were scattered and settled in for the night as I indicated earlier.
Close but no cigar as far as the roost cluster goes.........but I officially pronounce the migration ON........!
(can i do that?????)
